I think I’m not well because I now love our new to us base spec 2008 cr-v. It’s just so basic and boring and somehow that makes it fun. Honestly I feel like a kid in it because it has zero opinions and that’s exactly how my 1st couple cars were. I’m sure it’ll wear off but for now so glad we bought it.

My sister used to have a base spec CRV. At the time I had a 300 hp WRX which was a blast to drive but I still loved driving her car. Cheap Hondas drive so “crisp”. They build them like they built their old motos.

I understand where you are coming from. My daily driver is my MK7 GTI and when i get into my E30 i get reminded every time why i love the BMW so much still. The VW has a bunch of fancy electronic wizardry in it, E30 is a five-speed, has no A/C, no power steering, no power windows/locks, and a crank sunroof. It is so bare bones that i absolutely love it.

Honestly was joking to myself that all the blank buttons on the dash that were never cut out added to rigidity :)

No, you’re fine, they are good cars. My FIL had one of that generation that I got to drive a few times and was pretty fun for what it is. He liked it so much he bought a 2014 to replace it.

To me the CRV excels at everything it’s always been designed to do, my family had a 2002 for like 5 years and got a 2016 CRV last year.

My Aunt has a base 2010 in blue and she really likes it. Its a solid car, it’ll probably last forever. :-)
